my ffX for ps2 is freezing, Is the problem the Lens or the disc?
on the boat to kilika after talking to yuna about Jecht and Zanarkand, it goes to a cut scene where the water starts to rock the boat, during this scene it pauses a few times but it is able to get through past the cut scene, after this…after the part where kimari saves yuna from falling, the game fails to load the next part. The game continues to run ie music background animations but the game seems to not be able to load the next part….Is the problem with my ps2 lens or the game?
Happens. Once to me. Clean your disk by wiping and blowing with your shirt, or put one drip of water on a napkin and wipe carefully.

Scratch the laser lens?
I recently pulled out my old PSTwo (slimline PS2) and loaded a disc on it. I realized that when you open the lid, you can immediately see the laser/lens because it’s just sitting right there in the middle of the tray.
My concern is, with this kind of exposure, wouldn’t it be possible or even easy for the laser lens to become scratched when you’re putting in or taking out a disc?
Anyone who’s used a PSTwo knows that it can often be annoying trying to get the discs to “clip in” just right into the center. It’s pretty much impossible to keep the discs perfectly HORIZONTAL during this procedure, so couldn’t that mean that the disc could slip and easily come into contact with the lens?
It would be very difficult to damage the lens if you take care to load the disc properly. Even when the occasional mistake is made, it would still be hard. Don’t worry about that. The main enemy of PS2 lenses is dust.
