Is there any way to transfer video from a samsung sc-d382 min dv camcorder to my iMac without using iMovie 09?

I have a firewire 400 cable with a 400 to 800 adapter. My iMac is the 27in. version. I can record to iMovie 09 using the camcorder and firewire cable, but cannot send video from the camcorder to iMovie 09. Can I use a video coverter, Quicktime Pro, or other built-in app?

When you are moving DV-format video from the miniDV camcorder to the computer, the computer Imports – or Captures – the video. DV format video is compressed and the camcorder’s processor does the decompression and the video is saved to the iMovie (MOV) file format.

You are correct, the miniDV tape based camcorder does not “send” the DV format video to the computer – the computer takes the video from the camcorder.

QuickTime Pro won’t do what you want, either.

Final Cut (Express or Pro) will behave the same way iMovie does…

I am not aware of any application that will just stream the DV-format video data (no importing, no decompression) straight from the camcorder to the computer. This is not platform-spacific – the same is the case for Windows video editing for miniDV tape based camcorders, too. Importing is a real-time activity when working with miniDV tape.

The only way I know of to do what I *think* you need in order to do what you want is to record the DV format video straight to a specialized external hard drive – Focus Enhancements makes the FireStore series. This way, the DV forrmat video data is written directly to the FireStore drive when you connect the camcorder to the FireStore with a firewire cable. When video aquisition is complete, power everything down, connect the FireStore external drive to the iMac, power up, and work with the DV format files… Sony has a external video storage unit, too – but I don’t know if it will work with your Samsung miniDV camcorder. These specialized external storage devices are not inexpensive…

A regular external computer hard drive with no specialized DV-capture firmware will not work.

i have a purchase from amazon coming within the mail rite very soon. On tracking packages it says that it get a departure scan from New Jersey on April 2nd, at 12:45 AM. Are within video surveilance cameras that I can connect to 5E telecommunication?

Auto Handycam 8mm cassette Video Recorder HELP!?
I have a Sony Handycam really out-of-date. i have a charger mobile that hooks in and go to a wall outlet, when i plug it in the recorder turns on briefly but turns bad within 5 second. Im not sure what the problem is, but also the eject tray wont come out. i have a cassette contained by there and i cant catch it out because the door wont open. Best Handheld camcorder for short motion picture making?
I’m looking into buying a inexpensive (meaning, under $1000) video camera to copy a short film, and eventually even a full-length facet. I can’t afford any high priced camera approaching that Panasonic AG-DVC30 or a DVX-100. So, I’ve been looking at a much smaller (and cheaper) alternative. I estimate both the Canon HG10 and HV30 look great, especially in 24p mode. What is the difference between MiniDV and demo to hard drive surrounded by terms of trait? It would be much easier for me to get the (cheaper) HG10, history everything directly to hard drive, and bowdlerize directly from that. But, I’ve heard that MiniDV is the best format, but I can’t speak about much of a difference, personally. Again, I don’t enjoy a ton of money, otherwise I’d splurge on a nice $3000 camera–but I can’t. Do these handhelds really produce good element, or are they better suited for filming the dog? Any sustain will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I need to entrap someone who keeps messing beside my cars. Just the other night I have eggs all over them and a couple weeks ago someone tried individual slick and putting nail polish on it. I entail an affordable surveillance camera I can mount either out my windowpane (which looks into the driveway where I park my car) or on the roof. Calling Video Editing gurus: Capture device is a DVCAM digital Video Cassette player?
I recently have five old reel of 8mm film (family stuff from the 1950s) consolidated through a professional video verbs company. The resulting master I received is a 124-min DVCAM video digital tape. I would approaching to capture this to my computer and gag the footage with Pinnacle Studio 11 Ultimate. I enjoy two questions: 1) Can my program in fact capture this format? and 2) How expensive are the DVCAM VCRs? Can I rent one cheaply or will it cost me a bundle (I don’t own nor have I ever see a DVCAM player)? Thanks!
