How can i make my wireless card go into monitor mode?
i have a intel(r) wireless wifi link 5100, this is the wireless card that i use, i need to know if it is possible to put it into monitor mode, and if it can be done what are the steps i need to do to make that happen.
I am currently using a toshiba satellite and i am running windows vista home edition 32-bit.
You can’t use an embedded wireless adapter in monitor mode.
I recommend getting a USB adapter. Any of the Alfa models will work, and they make the most powerful wireless G adapter on the market.
From inside BackTrack 3 you would type:
ifconfig wlan0 up
airmon-ng stop wlan0
airmon-ng start wlan0
This is assuming that you are using Backtrack 3 and that wlan0 is the adapter.
