Do you know of a Digital camera I can use with 35mm SLR bayonet-mount lenses (size 52mm)? Are they compatible?
The camera is an old Ricoh XR-1 with Pentax K lenses. There two telephoto, a wide-angle, and a normal lens I’d like to use with a digital SLR.
If you have Nikon or Canon SLR lenses, you may be able to use them with the same manufacturers SLR. It depends on the age and style of the lens. The easiest thing to do would be to take the lens with you to the camera store and find out there.

The major difference between a Digital Camera and Digital SLR Camera, is the reflex design scheme. This scheme allows the camera’s screen to be used as an electronic viewfinder by consistently exposing the sensor to the light projected by the lens. The light from the scene can reach either the viewfinder or the sensor, according to the view position of the reflex mirror. These SLR Cameras have comparatively large sensors to ensure similar depths of field and picture angle to film formats. They are usually preferred by professionals, as they facilitate an accurate preview of framing close to the moment of exposure and depth of field.
Digital SLR Camera Prices largely depend on the manufacturer, and the specifications associated. Some of the major companies offering SLR Cameras in India are Sony, Canon, Nikon, Yashica and Kodak. 13.7-megapixel DCS Pro 14n is a Kodak Digital SLR Camera , which comes with an RGB CMOS sensor for delivering image resolutions as high as 4,500 x 3,000 pixels.Nikon “F” lens mount accommodates wide range of Nikkor lenses, and is accompanied by auto and Manual Focus control, with Single Area and Dynamic AF modes and AF assist lamp. This Digital Camera comes with various shooting modes including Program AE, Flexible Program, Aperture Priority, Shutter Priority, and Manual exposure. The 2.0-inch color LCD display along with SLR optical viewfinder enables better image captures.

Will an old style Sigma DL 35mm SLR lens work on my Sony Dslr?
Iv been offered a cheap Sigma 28 200 IF DL SLR lens (Minolta Mount). Will this work on my Sony A200 in auto focus mode and if so will the picture quality suffer as the A200 is not a full frame camera? Thanks
No reason why it shouldn’t work, on canons some third party lenses don’t work fully, but mostly this can be corrected by a lens firmware upgrade which sigma will perform for a modest fee.
There is a conversion factor with the non-full frame camera, so the only degredation will be that the lens becomes an effective 42-300 lens. The small sensor uses the sweet spot of the lens, and the resolution of the a200 shouldn’t stretch it too much. Do remember though that all superzooms are intinsically compromised by trying to be all things to all people.
If you have the chance, try it on your body first.
If its a decent price, and it checks out, go for it. Though you would probably want to keep your kit lens in the bag too to cover wide angles.
