will my nikon flashes, speedlight sb28 and a speedlight sb25 work with a nikon SLR digitall?
Per http://www.botzilla.com/photo/strobeVolts.html the SB25 has a trigger voltage of 3.68V and the SB28 has a trigger voltage of 3.48V which indicates they are safe to use with any Nikon DSLR.
It wouldn’t hurt to call Nikon Tech Support at 1-800-645-6689 and ask.

I like this camera a lot. Great pictures and very fast response. Up to 3 pictures a second and only a split second start-up time even after recovering from sleep mode.

My first DSLR – I love it
This is my first DSLR camera. I am a relative novice, so I will not try to convince of of anything technical. I will just say that I really like this camera. I took advantage of the deal Amazon has on the zoom lens, and I also bought a 50mm prime. So far these are all I have needed. The images this camera creates are great. The camera takes a little figuring out, but it is pretty powerful. High ISO noise isn’t bad at all. I am very satisfied with this camera and the deal at Amazon.

Great camera for the price!
I went from a Canon A-1 to this, and haven’t looked back! The greatest feature of this camera: It’s fun to use! I guess this is a common feature to all digital cameras. You are able to see your picture right away, and make exposure corrections as needed for that perfect picture. This encourages you to take more pictures, and instantly learn from your mistakes. I am not a professional photographer, but for my money, this camera is hard to beat. I still keep my trusty A-1 at home, but this Rebel XS is the one that I’m driving around town with these days.

Great DSLR for starters
Great DLSR for starters in photography. Great image quality, great battery life, the controls are all so easy to use. The only thing is that the max ISO speed is 1600, I personally think it could be more, maybe 3200….
Other than that, the Rebel XS is the perfect DSLR for me.

What a Great Camera
In my humble opinion, any beginner to intermediate photographer cannot go wrong with this camera. I may not have the experience like some but I will say this: As a father of 4, I have no problems getting great shots of my family at any activity. Be it indoors or out, low light or in the sun, my pictures are 90% fantastic. The other 10% is my own error (rushing the shot, moving, etc…).
It is easy to setup, takes a little more time to understand all of the features but by no means impossible. Requires a little patience and understanding (like any new device).
I purchased the telephoto lens, battery grip, lens covers and speedlight and I just love the quality, speed and ease that I have to enjoy these precious moments. And with the help of Photoshop, even little mistakes disappear. All of this for an investment of less than $1,000.
In these times when dollars are a little harder to come by, I found this to be a great value and extremely satisfying.

does anyone know of a good portable ring flash for the nikon sb600 speedlight?
i would mainly be using the ring flash for close up portraits.
This ring flash adaptor has just been brought to market. As of now it will only work with some Canon flashes and the Nikon SB800. I don’t know if you could make it work with your SB600 or not, but you may find it interesting anyway.
