Why did my Duracell rechargeable battery went hot near metal objects?
I’ve kept two AA HR6 DC1500 NiMH 1.2V 2450mAh Duracell rechargeable batteries. One of them got hot. I have also kept UK cents such as 50p, 20p and 10ps. They were hot as well. I also had my keys in there which were copper I presume. Does the metal/s in the battery make an exothermic reaction or was there a short circuit with my pennies?
Most likely you shorted the terminals which would lead to a rapid discharge and heating.
If it was in your pocket be careful, this could cause burning or your clothes to catch fire.

Remarkably powerful and like appeared brand new!
This is well balanced, easy to assemble, and a pleasure to use. It charges over night and there’s plenty of power for small plots, for example less than 500 sq. ft. For something that size you can do an excellent job in a few hours as opposed to days with manual tools. (And, you can do it with the convenience of a rechargeable tool!)
Like others, the “Factory-Reconditioned” unit I received from Black & Decker appeared brand new. Maybe it’s surplus stock that was new or maybe they just do a good job of fixing up returned merchandise. All I know is it’s about 1/2 the price of something that’s marked new and I can’t tell the difference.

B&D Recon Cultivator
B&D soil cultivator. Most excellent piece of yard equipment for my raised beds! Even used to plant in soil hills in the wooded yard where I had not planted before – with great results. Recon not an issue, the cultivator is holding up well, does a fantastic job of turning the soil. Holds a charge well, I was able to finish my 4 12′x4′ raised beds. Since the tines are 4″ deep and my beds are 12″ deep, manual turning to get deeper is needed, but that’s just fine. I’ve even used it in the garden to prepare individual planting spots. As others mentioned, wet heavy soil will clog up inside the tines. Solution: Wait til the soil dries a bit. I am very very happy with this cultivator.

New, not reconditioned.Not a sign of prior use. Gladly accepted the discount in price and found a perfect machine for light duty lawn and garden cultivating. A light surface treatment of the bare spots in my lawn (caused by my 100 lb dog)was the ideal treatment for blending seed and fertilizer for complete repair. Also, a perfect tool for cultivating the flower garden and adding the compost from the bin containing the green kitchen waste.
