How do you copy data with a USB drive in Windows XP safe mode?
The computer is not able to boot into normal mode because of a nasty virus. I can do a reload with the Dell disk but I would like to recover some pictures and music. I have a 16gb USB Flash drive and an USB External hard drive, but how I do copy data if I can’t get into normal mode?

I assume it’s a USB hard drive, not a flash drive…so you need to partition and format the drive. Plug it in, go to Start>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer Management. In the explorer part, under Storage, click Disk Management. Then find the drive, partition it, and format it.
